Absolute Power International (Pvt.) Ltd. (APIL) is a registered private limited company in Sri Lanka, incorporated for the purpose of offering solar powered system generation for both domestic and commercial clients.
Absolute Power has been established to address the rapidly growing need for more affordable alternative power solutions to Sri Lankan consumers faced with excessive utility bills.

OUR BUSINESS
Unlike conventional energy system providers, The Absolute Power mission is to convert conventional power users to alternative energy users. Introducing “clean energy” to Sri Lankan households will infuse, sustainable energy consumption practices, through the opportunity to “invest” and yield tangible monetary returns to the householder as well.
The company’s total renewable power solution has been developed based on an in-depth analysis of the energy needs of Sri Lanka, the abundant solar resources available throughout Sri Lanka, consumer usage patterns as well as an acute appreciation of the prolonged energy crisis and associated costs over the next few decades, as Sri Lanka’s energy consumption rises.

Founder and Managing Director, Mr.Thirukumar Nadarasa is a UK qualified Engineer with double Masters in Engineering and Management from the prestigious Aston University and Imperial College, He has over 25 years of expatriate experience in senior corporate management in a range of global multinationals including Hutchison Whampoa (Hong Kong) and Singapore Telecom (Singapore). He is presently posted in Sri Lanka as the CEO of Hutchison Telecom Lanka, the fastest growing 3G operator in the country.
Director, Technical and Operations, Captain (L) Rudolph Perera, B.Sc (Cey), C.Eng., FIET (Lond), FIMarST (Lond)., Sri Lanka Navy (Retired), is formerly the Director and Head of the Department of Electrical & Electronic Engineering in the Sri Lanka Navy. He has been an Advisor to His Excellency the President of Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka as well as the Ministry of Defence on Communication and Electronic Warfare. Captain Perera has over 45 years of experience in marine technology, radio and telecommunications, electrical engineering and solar systems in Sri Lanka and abroad. He was involved in starting up ‘CallLink’, the present day ‘Hutch’ and worked with Hutchison Telecommunication International Limited (HTIL) of Hong Kong and Singapore Telecommunications International (STI) for over 9 years in charge of Cellular Network rollouts in Sri Lanka and abroad.

Additionally these products will be affordably priced to our customers with highly customizable solutions designed and managed by our qualified and dedicated staff.
All products are internationally certified by US, European, Asian and Australian authorities and are supported by product performance insurance by some of Europe’s most well known Insurance companies. Locally in Sri Lanka, our products are registered with, the Sustainable Energy Authority, CEB and LECO.

In order to offer the best combination of quality, affordability and ’peace of mind’ performance, we have teamed up with world renowned solar system manufacturers and researchers – KINVE and SAMIL, for whom we are the accredited sole agents in Sri Lanka.
Locally, our partners include Hatton National Bank (HNB) who provide solar loan facilities and Janashankthi Insurance who insure the solar system for the first 5 years.

Thirukumar Nadarasa
I have understood, having been overseas for the greater part of my life as an academic as well as a professional in the field of telecommunications, that the cost of electricity in our country is much higher than in most others, due to our reliance on imported fuels.
Travelling in Europe and Australia, I have observed the increasing popularity of solar power generation and the steady decrease in the cost of the basic equipment.
Given Sri Lanka’s geographical location and its proximity to the Equator, we have the benefit of year round sunshine that is instrumental in decreasing the cost of the solar panels by half when compared to the United Kingdom and Australia.
The Sri Lankan government has also adopted farsighted policies to encourage the development of solar power generation. The introduction of “net metering” by the CEB/LECO allows solar power producers to avoid the added cost and limitations of having battery banks to store excess power instead facilitating the offloading of excess solar power to the National Grid for access when needed.
As an engineer, qualified in the United Kingdom, I have acquired solid engineering expertise. After working for over 30 years for Fortune 500 multinationals in Asia, Africa and the Middle East, I was given the opportunity to deploy the best in class technology, addressing the telecommunication needs of emerging markets at affordable prices.
It is all this and more, which lead me to research into developing a world-class solar power solution at an affordable price for our country.
An in-depth study of all the products available overseas and after perusing their global standard specifications and warranties, I believe that we have undoubtedly selected an incomparable product. As a result Absolute Power is today able to promise a payback of less than 5 years for an imported solar system warrantied to operate for 25 years. The solar system also has the advantage of zero maintenance costs after installation.
Based on feedback, initiatives were also taken to facilitate and address concerns by potential customers. Absolute Power was the first solar company to arrange for bank financing through Hatton National Bank. Absolute Power was also the first solar company to offer a free 5-year insurance cover for the solar system specifically through the investment recovery period with Janashakthi Insurance for complete peace of mind.
As a result, Absolute Power International Ltd is today able to offer the best in class solar power package that addresses the entire spectrum of needs of the Sri Lankan consumer.
I look forward to Absolute Power being able to deliver “free electricity” to many Sri Lankan households and businesses, relieving them of their continued heavy financial burden. In the process the country will also reduce its dependence on ‘foreign exchange sapping’ oil imports required to generate conventional electricity, contributing to a cleaner greener Sri Lanka.
