The Cost / Affordability Dilemma
Does it seem as if no matter how much you try and cut down on electricity usage, you still end up with an electricity bill that is not only ridiculously high but also consistently rising?
That is because the current and forecasted energy usage patterns guarantee a prolonged energy crisis in Sri Lanka over the upcoming decades. As Sri Lanka’s energy consumption rises supply will continue to struggle creating a scenario of increasing punitive costs for consumers. Also, Sri Lanka presently relies heavily on fossil fuel like oil and coal for large part of electricity production.
Renewable Energy
Renewable Energy is energy that is derived from natural/naturally-replenished resources including solar, wind, hydro, biomass, tidal and geothermal. Of these solar energy is still the most abundant, reliable and renewable energy source available today.
Green Energy
Green Energy is energy that can be extracted, generated, and/or consumed without any significant negative impact to the environment and the planet has a natural capability to recover. Wind power, solar energy, biomass power, tidal power etc., therefore belong in the “Green Energy” category.
Given that solar system merely draws energy from the absolute source of energy – the sun – you are in fact using the most sustainable energy form available to mankind. If sustainable practice is important to you, then you can rest assured that your home is not contributing to carbon emissions or wasting fossil fuels for its energy needs.
Unlimited Supply
Solar energy is considered the future trend of energy the world over. As solar system offers an opportunity to benefit from an unlimited energy source, there is a growing trend towards the adoption of solar power systems for homes, commercial & industrial establishments and even as large generation fields, taking advantage of free and renewable energy from the sun.
Solar Advantages
- Energy Efficiency
Solar power enhances the energy efficiency of your home without changing your lifestyle and can make your home, more energy efficient. Once the solar system (panels, inverter and the safety equipment) is in place, it automatically takes over power production catering to all, your requirements and more. - Affordable energy
Investors only need to invest the capital required for the installation of the system; thereafter they can enjoy the freedom of not having to pay another electricity bill again and also shielded from any future ‘tariff hikes’. There is also no maintenance cost. - Renewable energy
Solar energy is defined as the future trend of energy. This is the most sustainable form of energy generation. - Free Energy
Solar energy is obtained totally free of cost from the sun. - Environmentally Friendly
Solar energy does not emit any pollutants and is harmless to the environment.
Geography
As Sri Lanka lies within the Equatorial belt, a region where substantial solar energy resources exist throughout the year, the country is blessed with a very high solar power resource base. The distribution of annual solar resources range from 4.5 to 6.0 kWh/sqm/day across the country, and this is normally a constant throughout the year given the absence of seasonal variations in solar resources.

Sri Lanka receives significantly higher and constant solar radiation throughout the year than western countries where solar power is already well established.
[title=”Why Absolute Power?]
Our Total Solution
Unlike conventional energy system providers, Absolute Power mission is to convert conventional power users to alternative energy users. Introducing “clean energy” to Sri Lankan households will infuse, sustainable energy consumption practices, through the opportunity to “invest” and yield tangible monetary returns to the householder as well.
The company’s total renewable power solution has been developed based on an in-depth analysis of the energy needs of Sri Lanka, the abundant solar resources available throughout Sri Lanka, consumer usage patterns as well as an acute appreciation of the prolonged energy crisis and associated costs over the next few decades, as Sri Lanka’s energy consumption rises.
Our solar power systems can reduce your current electricity bill to zero by generating 100% of your household power requirements including your air-conditioners and other heavy electrical appliances such as deep freezers, pressure pumps, electric ovens, geysers etc.
Any excess power generated over your immediate consumption will be automatically exported to your National Grid Provider (CEB/LECO) through the “Net-metering” facility. These exported units will be stored as “credits” to you and will cover your electricity consumption for the household at night and during cloudy days. Any unused credit accrued will be carried forward to the following month for the period of your contract (20 years) with the Grid Provider.
This kind of solar system therefore, does not require large battery banks that store only limited amounts of energy and occupy large amounts of space.
There is almost zero maintenance requiring only an occasional hosing down of dust and foliage from solar panels to improve conversion efficiency. This is because there is absolutely no moving parts in the entire solar power system and materials are mostly anti corrosion aluminium and glass.
Our solar power system is guaranteed to generate electricity for 25 years. This means that after your total system investment is recovered from electricity bill savings in first 4 years, you get a further 21 years and more free electricity !!. Imagine what you could do with the savings you will make on your electricity bills.
Banking Financing
Absolute Power have teamed up with Hatton National Bank (HNB) for your solar power system to be bank financed up to 70% into monthly installment payments that includes the interest payment for your loan, payable over a period of only 5 years.
In this finance arrangement, your monthly loan installment could be fully covered by the monthly savings made on your electricity bill so you do not pay anything extra out of your pocket, aside from the money otherwise payable to your electricity provider. You will also be fully insulated from all future increases in electricity tariffs.
Insurance
Absolute Power is also the first and only Solar System Provider in Sri Lanka to offer a comprehensive 5-year insurance scheme through Janashakthi Insurance covering any eventuality that could affect your system. To avoid inconveniencing you, we take over the burden of liaising with Janashakthi to provide you with cover in the unlikely event of any system failure or damage. This value addition is provided completely free of charge to you.
Absolute Power Advantage
After you have recovered your investment from electricity bill savings, you will still continue to enjoy free electricity and capital appreciation as the solar power system will directly increase the re-sale value of your home.
- Pay outright and recover your initial system investment in just about 4 years
- Get financing and pay what you would for your monthly electricity bill as finance cost for 5 years
- 25 years of guaranteed solar energy to power all your household needs

[title=”FAQ”]
How Does Net Metering Work?
A new digital two-way net meter will replace the standard one-way electricity meter at your home. The meter will have 2 registers – ‘import’ and ‘export’ that measures power consumed and power produced by you solar system.
Once your solar system is installed, the CEB/LECO will visit your house and install a new net meter. Every month as is common practice when you are a CEB conventional power consumer, your electricity meter will be read, and both import and export readings will be noted.
If in a month, the consumer exported more than imported, the excess units will be credited to following months’ bill. If the consumer utilises more than the normal consumption/production, then the consumer will pay only for excess units used starting at the lowest tariff block
No cash payment will be made for excess exported units, instead the CEB will carry over your excess units to the following months usage, thereby allocating you credit that can be used for the next months utility consumption. This can be carried forward up to 20years
How Do I Apply To CEB Or LECO To Get The Connection?
Absolute Power will fill in all documentation and submit the forms. However, we will need you to fill in the section on your personal and connection account details. You will be required to visit the area CEB or LECO office to sign the contract with them. Here, CEB/LECO agrees to ‘purchase’ your excess production for 20 years.
Do I Have To Pay CEB Or LECO For This New Meter & Connection
All charges for the meter and connection will be borne by Absolute Power
Who Pays For The Insurance?
Absolute Power will pay for the insurance for the system for the first years from Janashakthi. The policy will be under Absolute Power with specific mention of your name and address. This will take off the burden from you in case of any eventuality and Absolute Power will replace or repair your system free of charge and will interact with Janashakthi as needed. You will not have to burden yourselves with any claims
